“Smoother Mover” ™ warm water activities

Activities in warm water help many people by decreasing the pain and stiffness of arthritis.

“Smoother Mover”™ activities are low impact and are particularly well tolerated by people with arthritis. Activities can be easily adapted to individual needs and provide the opportunity fro improving general fitness while respecting restrictions. The activities help to make joints more flexible, muscles stronger and build up fitness gradually according to individual ability. “Smoother Mover”™ activities are held in most areas of the state where a suitable pool is available:

  • The pool water temperature is approximately 30-34 degrees Celsius
  • A specially trained leader monitors progress to help get the most out of this activity.
  • You do not need to be able to swim to attend
  • An assessment form from your GP needs to be completed to say you are able to come into the water

The activities are not dependant on specialised exercise facilities or equipment but can be an important part of making joints more flexible and muscles stronger.
