Bone Density Testing – West Coast

Rosebery Neighbourhood Centre- 8 Agnes St, Rosebery
Osteoporosis Tasmania will be conducting Bone Density Screenings using a portable densitometer. This heel ultrasound, combined with a brief interview on your risk factors, will give you a guide as to your risk for osteoporosis and fractures. The procedure is totally non invasive, painless, and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. It does not involve any exposure to radiation.

Join in an information session on osteoporosis treatment, management and prevention. Prepare and sample some tasty calcium rich recipes.

Tai Chi for Arthritis – Come and Try

Come along and try tai chi for arthritis in a fun and non-threatening environment. All mobility levels are catered for. No experience necessary. A gentle form of exercise.

A trained Tai Chi Leader will be performing a Tai Chi demonstration with participants from classes regularly conducted in the Wynyard community. Arthritis Tasmania will also have an information stall for arthritis, osteoporosis and related conditions at the Festival… come and say hello and have a chat!

Arthritis Australia is working on your behalf with government and manufacturers to encourage them to design packaging and products that are easy to open and use. This will help all people with arthritis. Come along and find out about the program and what it means for you. We want to know what things you have difficulty opening and using and we will tell you how to get things changed.

Osteoporosis – Facts from Fiction

Arthritis Tasmania Board Room, 127 Argyle Street, Hobart
Join in a fun and interactive evening learning about Osteoporosis. Learn about prevention and management of osteoporosis, medications, appropriate exercise, calcium (both through diet and supplements) Vitamin D and more! This program is being run through Adult Education, so enrolments must go through them. Please contact them on 6211 8549 to book in. Fees are still to be confirmed by Adult Education but are normally around $11:00, payable to Adult Education.
