Leader Training for 2008


Tai Chi for Arthritis Leader Training (Part 1)– South

The course teaches people to safely and effectively conduct Tai Chi for Arthritis classes. This program has been shown to significantly decrease pain and stiffness and improve balance in people with arthritis. The course includes theory and practical sessions with an emphasis on group participation. This course is for physiotherapists, exercise instructors, Diversional therapists, rheumatology professionals, people with
experience of Tai Chi who want to lead classes in their local area, and other health professionals.

Tai Chi for Arthritis Leader Training (Part 1) – 30 & 31 August 2008
Cost: $330.00 includes all materials (DVD or Video) and morning and afternoon tea

Tai Chi for Arthritis Leader Training(Part 2) and Leader Update

This is an opportunity for people who have completed Part 1 training to increase their qualification to leading the whole 31 movements in this program. Leaders are also offered a day up skill workshop to maintain their accreditation with the originator of the program.

Leader Training - Chair Based Exercises (cancelled)

This three day course is ideal for allied health assistants, activity/recreation officers working in rehabilitation or aged care or community members wanting to hold low impact activities in their local area. At the end of the course the successful participant will be able to plan and implement a safe and effective chair based exercise class. This course includes theory and practical sessions with an emphasis on group participation. (Cancelled)


Leader Training - Smoother Movers (previously known as Warm Water Exercises)

This three day course is ideal for allied health assistants, activity/recreation officers working in rehabilitation or aged care or community members wanting to hold low impact activities in their local area. At the end of the course the successful participant will be able to plan and implement a safe and effective warm water exercise class. This course includes theory and practical sessions with an emphasis on group participation.

Cost: $385.00 includes all course materials, practical in the pool, morning and afternoon tea

ARTHRITAS01 Deliver Health Care information on musculoskeletal conditions.

Target Group: Pharmacy Assistants
This training aims to provide participants with the basic skills necessary to provide basic health care information to assist in the management of musculoskeletal conditions. It is important to note that this course is for the provision of information only, as medical advice can only be provided by medical practitioners.
