  • Arthritis affects 10.7% of the workforce and is the fourth most frequent cause of time off work, with a frequency similar to that of accidents.
  • Arthritis is the most common chronic health problem.
  • By age 75, 47% of the population have some form of arthritis.
  • One child in every 1000 in Australia is diagnosed with juvenile arthritis.
  • Arthritis is the 2nd most common cause for visiting a doctor, accounting for 11% of all consultations.
  • 14% of people who use medication do so for diseases of the muscular-skeletal system.
